Ola Akinmowo - CYT
Ola has been practicing yoga since 2001 when she was pregnant specifically as a way to prepare her mind & body for birthing. She felt a shift in her consciousness take place that very first day and remains so grateful for that moment in time. Ola sees yoga as a sacred gift to the world that can not only strengthen and tone the body but can also encourage and inspire a sense of peace,compassion & self love. She is thrilled to be in a in a position to be able to share this divine blessing with the world whether its de-stress yoga for at risk teens, new moon yoga for women artists, or restorative poses for emotional & physical healing. She finds joy in taking all spirits that are willing to that place she likes to call post hatha bliss. Where the mind, spirit and body intersect in perfect harmony all through self guided mindful movements syncing breath and movement.
In yoga one can find clarity of mind and the focus needed to meet the challenges of daily life as well provide and overall toning and strengthening of the physical form. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at the highly esteemed Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA, the largest and most established center for yoga in North America. She is currently working towards her 500 her advanced certification.
She spends her time off the mat raising her brilliant 9 year old daughter, and working as a freelance set designer for film, theatre & video. She is a food justice activist and collage artist. She also works as an educator within the NYC public school system teaching children from k - 9th grade, all about the earth sciences, nutrition, gardening, healthy living and eco-friendly practices. She also deeply enjoys dancing, all forms of crafting and cooking meals made from fresh and local. She looks forward to sharing this practice with all that are open and interested.
